Sacramental preparation and joining the Catholic Church

Sacramental preparation is a time where the parish community is able to connect and grow with it’s parishioners. Each sacrament is a deepening bond between, God, one’s family and the church. It allows one to experience each of God’s gifts for us as a member of the body of Christ, His living church.

Preparation for parents wishing to welcome their infant or a young child into the Church begins with a meeting with the Pastoral Assistant. Together, you will be guided through the requirements of having your child welcomed into the Parish.

Your child does not have to have been born for a family to begin preparations for their child’s baptism. While the Church prefers that children be baptized soon after birth, baptisms can take place up until a child is 7 years old.

Baptismal Preparation class is every 1st Wednesday at 6:00pm

Baptisms will proceed at all weekend Masses during or after 12:00 noon Mass.  Family and attendees are required to participate in the Mass.   Please plan accordingly.

Please contact the Parish office to register or if you have any questions.

First Reconciliation / First Eucharist

This is an invitation for you child, age 8 years old and above, to prepare for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist at St. Edmund Parish.

The next First Reconciliation and  Eucharist  – Next Parent Information and Registration Meeting is to be determined.

The sacrament of Confirmation is a calling for youth to deepen their faith in Jesus through the Holy Spirit.

Information and details for the next Confirmation preparation sessions will be announced later.

Please note: Youth need to have completed the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist. If your child has missed completing these sacraments please speak to the parish office to discuss this matter as your child will be helped to complete these sacraments prior to being Confirmed.
