Parish Ministries and Catholic Organizations

An important aspect of a Parish community is through the various ministries that are active within the Church. We are blessed with the talents and gifts that our parishioners bring to our Parish. Please take time to consider adding your talents, to assist those who already share their stewardship to make our Parish community so caring and welcoming. Catholic Organizations / Apostolates

  • Catholic Woman’s League (CWL): The largest organization of Catholic Woman in Canada with a long tradition of faith and charity.
  • Knights of Columbus (Our Lady of Fatima Council): An international order of Catholic men dedicated to the principles of fraternity, unity, patriotism and charity.
  • Legion of Mary: An internationally recognized Catholic Marian apostolate of men and women dedicated to evangelization through the gospel acts of mercy.

Pastoral Care Ministries

  • Communion to the Sick and Homebound: Visitation to our sick and those otherwise impeded from coming to Mass and serving them Holy Communion.
  • Pastoral Care to Senior Homes: Assist with setting up for Mass and act as a porter for seniors at our neighbourhood care centres.
  • Funeral Mass: Assist with the setup and serving at Funeral Masses; Music Ministry (Organist/Pianist/Cantor)

Liturgical Ministries (Weekend Masses)

  • Sacristan: Preparation of the Church before and after masses.
  • Eucharist Minister: Assist with serving rites of the mass and distribution of Holy Communion. (Confirmed adults)
  • Altar Server: Assist in carrying the cross and candles and serve at the altar. (Any youth who has received First Holy Communion)
  • Children’s Liturgy: Assist as catechists to young children during the Liturgy of the Word at Mass. (Confirmed youth or adults)
  • Collections Team: Assist in counting donations after 12 noon Mass.
  • Music Ministry: Singers, psalm cantors and musicians who lead the church in praise and worship.
  • Children’s/Youth Choir: See Music Ministry
  • Proclaimers (Lectors): Proclaim the Scripture Readings and Prayers of the Faithful. (Youth or Adults)
  • Hospitality (Greeters/Ushers): Greet and seat worshipers; take up collection; bearing the gifts to the altar; assist in cases of emergency.
  • Extraordinary Ministers of Communion: Assist with distribution of the Sacred Body and Blood of Christ at Holy Communion. (Confirmed adults, 16 years of age and older)
  • Environment (Arts and Decoration): Coordinate use of artistic talents to decorate the church for the various liturgical seasons of the year. Assist with seasonal or special (Christmas/Lent/Easter/Feast) Masses.
